The Money Meltdown

Everything you need to know about the global money crisis of 2007-?.

About the site

The proprietor: My name’s Matt Thompson. I’m not an economist, or even an economics geek, or even someone who knows anything about economics. I’m an online journalist who does most of his blogging at Snarkmarket and blogs about the future of journalism at Newsless.org.

(By the way, I have some help from my advisor and co-proprietor Robin Sloan, who actually did study economics.)

Goal of this site: I’ve had a lot of difficulty finding sites that pulled together useful, authoritative, and comprehensive information about our current financial crisis in an accessible way. So I thought I’d take a stab at it myself. I hope anyone looking to get up to speed on this crisis can come to the home page and get what they need. Besides the link of the day, nothing on the front page will change too much from day to day, but I will try to keep it relevant, up-to-date and valuable for those looking for more knowledge on the crisis.

Seeing as I live in the U.S., this site’s got a U.S. slant, but I know this is a global problem. I’m happy to share my templates with anyone who’d like to try their hand at a non-U.S.-focused site, and I welcome links that offer a global perspective.

I welcome feedback, criticism, and especially suggestions for the best links to include. If you’ve got a link to recommend, please register and post it here. For any other feedback, feel free to contact me.

Thanks for dropping by.
